Cooperative learning
Hello class. I just saw the videos of Kagan Method and I can say that I find it quite impressive. It was a method very different than the methods that we are used to. Kagan method brings a total transformation in the classroom. In my opinion cooperative learning is the best way to teach new thing to students. The students are in the center of teaching process and the teacher plays mostly the role of instruction and advisor. The structures of Kagan Method can be used in every level, from preschool to college students. Using of this structure will improve all the major skills of students, and as well enhance social skills and social relations. I would like to work with this structure in my future because I see very helpful as a method to manage a class even if it has a large number of students. This structure gives the students opportunities to learn things in a more practical way rather than just learn by heart.

I agree when you say that it is a very good method to be used to young learners, but I think it can be challenging applying it to older students because you face the risk that they use theKagan structures to chitchat rather than share ideas about the lesson. Moreover, think about large classes. It is exhausting to manage these large classrooms in normal teaching environments, then in such situations it is pretty difficult even because our learners are not used to this type of learning.
ReplyDeleteI agree with your point of view Brixhilda but I think that this structure should be introduced to students since they start to learn a foreign laguage. I am conscious thas it is a challenge to deal with such methods but it is a challenge to be taken. If none of us won't take the initiative to deal with this challenge than how will the new generation improve their skills? It is important to take the risk to avoid the lack of communication among students. As I have mentioned even in my post this kind of structure help a lot of students to collaborate within each other. That's why I see this structure appropriate for my students.

ReplyDeleteThe usage of the cooperative method depends on the teacher if he is able to manage the class.Everyone in the classroom should an excellent collaborator to help each other.The aim of Cooperative Learning is work in groups and to create a helpful environment.
That's the point Besa,to be able to manage the class. I think that a hard work teacher can deal with such methods. I share the same opinion with you as belongs to the aim of cooperative learning.
DeleteHello, Zaide! Of course that this way of learning is very different from what we were taught. Students interact a lot.This makes that all students to share their ideas and so they develop all skills. I agree with the fact that this method is more practical than the traditional one.
